Lock Nuts
A lock nut is a specialized type of nut used to secure bearings, adapter sleeves, or withdrawal sleeves onto a shaft, preventing them from loosening during operation. It plays a critical role in rotating machinery and bearing assemblies, especially in applications subject to vibration, dynamic loads, or continuous rotation. Lock nuts are typically threaded onto the shaft or sleeve and tightened to apply an axial force that holds the bearing or sleeve in position. To ensure the nut does not work loose over time, it is often used in combination with locking washers (such as the MB type), which engage with slots on the nut and prevent rotation.
